The UN Millennium Development Goals were recognised at the turn of the century. There were eight goals. In 2015 they yielded for the Sustainable Development Goals.
There are more new goals than in the Millennium Goals and they tackle problems that are widespread around the world. The aim is for every country in the world to have met them in 2030. All UN member states will implement those 17 goals and their 169 sub-objectives. Iceland is among those countries.
The goals can be seen in this picture and more information can be found on the UN website here.
