Gaumur observes the number of law enforcement jobs in indicator 1.4. The development of the number of jobs at the police stations in North Iceland that fall within the monitoring area of Gaumur and the comparison areas to the east and west of it, i.e. in Akureyri, Húsavík and Þórshöfn.
In 2016, there were 28 jobs in Akureyri, 6 in Húsavík and 2 in Þórshöfn. The number of jobs has increased steadily during the period covered by the monitoring. The biggest difference in the increase is between the years 2020 and 2021 and 2021 and 2022, but during this period the number of law enforcement jobs increases by 12 in the region, one of which is in Húsavík. There are now a total of 47 jobs in Akureyri, 11 jobs in Húsavík and 2 in Þórshöfn. Between the years 2022 and 2023, the number of jobs in law enforcement continues to increase and there are now three more than the previous year, and it is spread over the three locations in Akureyri, Húsavík and Þórshöfn. In the past five years, there has only been one law enforcement job in Þórshöfn.
